Thank You For Making Luggage-of-Hope A Success!

We are sincerely grateful to all of you that donated to our cause! Our goal was to collect 100 travel pieces, however, your generosity drove our total to over 300 bags! Although the program has ended, you can still contribute by shipping or dropping them to our location during office hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Additionally, our Executive Director, Yvette DuBose, and work on this cause were featured in NBC 6 South Florida's "Fierce Female Friday" segment!

Foster and Adoptive Families Can Now Visit Florida State Parks for Free!

Representative Larry Lee, Jr.'s Bill to Allow Foster & Adoptive Families Free Access to State Parks Signed by Governor Scott

Tallahassee, FL –  Representative Larry Lee, Jr.'s (D-Port St. Lucie) HB 185 to allow Florida's foster and adoptive families free access to state parks was signed into law by Governor Rick Scott.

The bill provides foster and adoptive families with annual passes for state parks at no charge, a fifty percent discount on base campsite fees, and families who adopt a special needs child will receive a one-time family annual entrance pass at no charge at the time of the adoption. It also continues the partnership between the Division of Recreation and Parks and the Department of Children and Families to hold events each year during National Foster Care Month andNational Adoption Month to promote foster care and adoption.

"Florida's foster and adoptive families are crucial for our most vulnerable children by providing them the opportunity for love, care, and growth," explainedRepresentative Larry Lee, Jr. "Spending time at our beautiful state parks builds bonds between these families and helps children gain an appreciation for Florida's environmental treasures. By making Florida's state parks more accessible, we are strengthening our children and families, and our state as a whole."
